Are you looking to make a difference in a child's life? Become a foster carer in Durham with Foster Care Solutions.
Futures For Children is an Independent Fostering Agency which was established in 1999 and began with two Social Workers, both of whom had been Foster Carers, who decided to offer a better service than other Independent Agencies and Local Authorities were providing.
In 2010, Foster Care Solutions, which was established in 1998, sold to Futures for Children to become part of the Futures Group. The Foster Care Solutions office is based in Durham, where it was originally located in 1998.
Foster Care Solutions offer support to Foster Carers and Looked After Children in the following areas within the North East regions:
Northumberland
Durham
Gateshead
South Tyneside

At Foster Care Solutions we acknowledge that, along with these more challenging behaviours, every young person will also have acquired many skills and strengths which have enabled them to survive their experiences thus far. Whilst we do not believe that it is the child’s responsibility to solve the problem, it is our aim to assist them in building on these strengths and skills to find acceptable solutions to their own particular circumstances.
If you decide to become a foster carer for us we will aim to equip you with the appropriate skills and training to work with the child in such a way that it facilitates joint growth and solutions which will eventually enable young people to return home successfully, move on to a more permanent placement, or achieve independent living; whichever is in accordance with their Care Plan.
There are many reasons why a child or young person might come into care. Whether it be illness within the family, a family breakdown, drug or alcohol abuse in the home, or sadly due to physical, emotional or physical abuse and neglect.
It is this reason that children and young people in care sometimes present challenging behaviour. However, you will receive free comprehensive and professional training and 24/7 support from our team of experienced Social Workers, so you will never have to face anything alone. With your care and guidance, these children will receive a second chance in life.
Our Foster Carers are a group of fabulously varied people, there is no ‘perfect’ person we look for. There are many misconceptions around becoming a Foster Carer. The truth is, you can foster a child or young person whether you're married or single, no matter your race, religion, gender or sexuality. Whether you are a homeowner or renting, have children of your own or no experience at all!
The only thing you need to be considered to start your fostering journey is, to be over the age of 25, have a spare bedroom and the space in your heart to love a foster child. Most children in care lack the positive family experience that most of their peers would have, but all it takes is one person, a person like you, to make a difference.
